Feng Shui - Water Element
Learn how to use Feng Shui to create balance, harmony and prosperity in your environment!
We live in an interconnected web of life where every element in nature interacts with the others. The elements act as a whole to create and maintain Chi -- the force of life.
Feng Shui stands for Water and Wind
When activated by the wind, water in motion produces the flow of well being through your life.
Water contains the potential of giving life
and nourishes all living things. It must always balance the Fire
element.
5 Elements of Feng Shui
Notice the combination of the elements around you:
Water - Wood - Fire - Earth - Metal

Water provides moisture for Wood to grow. Wood provides fuel for Fire. The end result of Fire is ash that becomes the soil of the earth. The Earth forms metals and minerals. Metal fills Water with life-giving substances.
Using the Five Elements of Feng Shui
At
home and at work, you can create five-element arrangements in an infinite
variety.
- Think of all the different combinations you can put together
by using the things, colors and shapes associated with each element.
This can be called the Feng Shui alchemy. Mix the five elements just
right and you will have an environment of gold.
For instance, in front of a mirror (representing Water element), you can place a healthy plant (representing Wood) in a red terra-cotta pot (symbolizing Fire and Earth).
To bring in the Metal element, you could
then place a polished rock or small bronze statue...
Feng Shui Home
The water elements can be:
- A stream, river, pond, pool, water fountain, water garden, waterfall ...
- A reflective surface, such as cut crystal, glass and mirror...
- A flowing free form, or wavy or asymmetrical shape...
- A waterfall picture, or poster, any art representing water, or water life...
- The black and dark-tone spectrum of colors such as charcoal gray and midnight blue.
According
to Feng Shui, the best shape for a house, apartment or room is the square.
But don't lose hope if your home or workplace has an architectural imbalance. Water
features symbolically complete the structure if they are placed
to "fill in" where the corner of the building would be. At
the same time, the water feature keeps lively Chi circulating.
Feng Shui water features are especially powerful in the wealth and career areas because the element of Water has a direct association with the flow of money.
Feng Shui Mirrors
Feng Shui Traditional Bagua Mirrors Pa Kua are used to counteract the effect of invisible "poisoned arrows" pointing toward your home or front door of your house. These arrows can be anything that is pointed, sharp, straight and hostile - they are considered to be "killing energy".
Exterior poison arrows are usually more dangerous. The eight-side Pa Kua symbol hung above the front door is very powerful Feng Shui antidote. Its power comes from the arranged sequence of tri-grams placed on each of the eight sides and the central mirror, which can be convex or concave.
Feng Shui Crystals
Crystals fill a home with positive Chi energy.
They add light and color to any room in your home. Use crystals all around the house to deflect negative energies. In a window, crystals to encourage positive Chi as they fill your home with rainbows.
Crystal Ball Prisms are specifically linked with the Water element. Use them to
bring balance to areas dominated by the Fire element, like in
a very sunny window.
The different colors of the crystals have different significances and powers not only in feng shui, but as an alternative therapy too. For instance:
- Brilliance in clear crystals encapsulates order, purity and clear thinking. It brings rays of hope when all seems lost. More brilliant the crystal more powerful it is - a diamond for example sparkles with every color of the rainbow.
- Yellow clears away confusion and negative thinking. It boost self-esteem, lifts depression and is particularly useful for fears and phobias.
- Blue brings rest. It cools and calms. Blue is the tranquil spirit, the color of contemplation and relaxation.
- Rose is a heart healing color. A rose crystal carries a very gentle sooting energy, bringing comfort to someone whose heart has been wounded.
Feng Shui Animals
Aquariums and fish tanks are highly prized Feng Shui enhancer's
Aquariums Join the Five Elements Together in One Expression
Aquariums
gather the five elements of Wood (plants), Fire (fish), Earth (sand),
Metal (rocks), and Water into one dynamic feature. When maintained properly,
an aquarium attracts prosperity into your home or business. Stagnant
water, however, is bad Feng Shui. Fish help keep water circulating.
Fish bestow wealth and career luck - Setting up your first aquarium can be a daunting task. You need to choose the right fish, AND you have to maintain the right environment for the fish to flourish.
Freshwater Aquariums For Dummies
Setting up your first freshwater aquarium can be a daunting task. This friendly guide answers all your questions, from setting up your tank and selecting fish to the water, chemicals, plants, and much more. There's also expanded guidance on combining different species of fish, maintaining a tank, cleaning gravel, and dealing with common problems such as algae.
Feng Shui Fish Ponds Bring Luck to Your Front Door
In order to protect the front door from being hurt by bad external energy, have a water feature near by. When placed on the left, near to your front door (inside looking out), the Water feature can bring good luck.Fill a pond with terrapins, carp, goldfish, and Arowana fish and healthy
plants. (Don't mix fish with terrapins. Decide
which you prefer and keep only one species.)
Do not place water on both sides of your main door. This spells tears, severe loss, a sudden fall from power and, sometimes, even death.
The best directions to position a Water Feature are North, East, and Southeast.
The book The Living Pond: Water Gardens with Fish & Other Creatures focuses on the aesthetic and environmental roles these creatures play, and, by thoroughly detailing physical characteristics and culture requirements, plans habitats best suited to each species.
Feng Shui Tortoise
Turtles or tortoises bring great good fortune
Everyone benefits from the symbolic presence of the turtle, which is the symbol of longevity. The turtle is the guardian of the North, which governs career luck!
In Feng Shui folklore the turtle is regarded as a most auspicious and celestial creature that brings great good fortune. (Read Lillian Too's book: Easy to use Feng Shui - 168 ways to success)
If you have a large enough office, one of the best Feng Shui tips I
can pass on is to keep a single turtle (terrapin, tortoise) in the North
corner of your office. One will do. The number of the North is 1, and
a single terrapin is more auspicious than a pair. Turtles and Tortoises (Barron's Complete Pet Owner's Manuals)
Place a turtle, or a picture of a turtle in your office to
attract prosperity to your business!
Find out how
the Tortoise can bring success to your business
The turtle is a reptile that likes both water and land. You can use an aquarium to keep your terrapin or you can create another home. Place a boulder in the container and half fill it with water.
Tips for growing a pet turtle (terrapin):
- Keep water fresh at all times,
- Let the water sit for a while to get rid of the chlorine,
- Stand a pail of water in the sun for at least 3 hours to give your terrapin yang-energized water.
The turtle doesn't have to be real.
A ceramic, glass, even
plastic one will do it.
You can even make one by your own - it's a funny
play that will detach you from the daily stress for a little moment. It addition it will reflect an increased positive energy.
Paint a Rock Pet Turtle Kit
I
personally love them and I have a collection of turtles of all kind (not
pets though), including pictures and calendars and keep them in my office
and allover the house :)
Always point the tortoise toward the inside of your room.
The Dragon Headed Turtle is the symbol of longevity in your home, especially for the head of the house. (The dragon symbolizes luck, the turtle long life and the baby turtle new beginnings.) The Dragon Headed Turtle is also a powerful symbol of wealth, health, prosperity and protection.
Legend has it that the turtle has within his body the secret of heaven and earth. The design of his shell shows the magic square, the guide for life.
A sculpture of the beautiful Dragon Headed Turtle, with a piece of red ribbon in his mouth improves relationships. With a golden ribbon, he attracts wealth. A blue ribbon improves health.
- To increase his strength, place him in the North of your lounge or office. Place him behind you when you are sitting at your desk to give you support.
- To increase your success or improve your options, place a Dragon
Headed Turtle inside your front door on a table. In the evening turn
him round to face the interior.
Treat your Dragon Headed Turtle with respect and he will bestow blessings on you.
Feng Shui Water
Water Features
Interior and exterior water features move and stimulate Chi, attracting the cosmic life energy.
Fountains and waterfalls circulate and refresh the Chi while they provide a pleasing place to rest the eye and the ear.
Indoor water fountains and waterfalls are excellent choices for enhancing the Chi
in any BAGUA area
of your home or workplace.
Whether inside or outside, place directional water features
so that the water "points" toward the house or into the
room.
* Placed in the knowledge area, a waterfall can enhance learning. Water fountains provide additional health benefits by releasing negative ions, thereby purifying your environment. Fountains also increase humidity levels and decrease the level of dust, pollutants and static electricity.

Fountains for Indoors & Outdoors: 20 Step-By-Step Projects book

Water and Feng Shui Garden
Gardens are the "arms" that surround your location. They bring life energy to your environment, especially when completed with some water features.
The
garden is the Yin and the home is the Yang,
so the overall effect of your garden should convey the balance of Yin
and Yang.
There should also be a balance in the way straight lines and angles associated with a house are complimented to achieve that balance. Use flower beds and curved paths to counterpoint and balance the straight lines of a house.
